Yet another half-time failure

Although Greenbay won the game against the Steelers by a score of 31-25, the real story is the ridiculously funny/bad/embarrassing musical acts before the game and during half time (only because I can't bring myself to really care about football).

Obviously when you mess up your own national anthem when singing it at a sporting event, people are going to laugh, but when you mess it up at one of the largest sporting events on the planet, there's going to be a lot of negative attention coming your way.  Here is Christina Aguilera's performance before the game:

In my opinion this only happens because artists try to add their own artistis flares and flourishes to a song that doesn't need to be added on to or improved.  Although I'm not an American, I know I hate it when singers do that to our national anthem (Canada).  There's a reason it's called a "National" anthem, it doesn't need to be remixed or redone.

I'm also not a big Black Eyed Peas fan (I personally find Will.i.am's name alone infuriating) I almost peed my pants when I saw Slash and Fergie perform a duet to the tune of 'Sweet Child of Mine".  How Slash, BEP and Usher managed to get on the same stage, I have no idea, but it happened, and millions were disappointed I'm sure.

Something tells me we'll be hearing Axl's opinion on the performance in the near future.

  1. Oi I mentioned how horrible the BEPs sounded last night and my wife was like nah its not that bad but I'm glad to have the rest of the public (or 95%) of you who watched the game agree with me. The mic's sucked! Had the BEPs been a bit louder themselves it might not have seemed so bad.
    Just my 2c

  3. The second video isn't there anymore. Was looking forward to seeing it, though I likely would have been disappointed as well.

  11. Seriously pop sensations ruin songs by over doing it. Less whoring over the mic its supposed to be about our independence not your singing "talent"

  23. Many games like this have come and gone before. I remember once, at the Colloseum, the singer botched Romes anthem bad enough, we stoned her.

  24. Yeah... the halftime show was almost as big of a fuck up as the national anthem. BEP should never have tried to cover Guns 'n' Roses.

As for the score, I'm so glad the Packers won. As a long term Bengals fan I couldnt stand to see Shittsburgh win another title!
