Although Greenbay won the game against the Steelers by a score of 31-25, the real story is the ridiculously funny/bad/embarrassing musical acts before the game and during half time (only because I can't bring myself to really care about football).
Obviously when you mess up your own national anthem when singing it at a sporting event, people are going to laugh, but when you mess it up at one of the largest sporting events on the planet, there's going to be a lot of negative attention coming your way. Here is Christina Aguilera's performance before the game:
In my opinion this only happens because artists try to add their own artistis flares and flourishes to a song that doesn't need to be added on to or improved. Although I'm not an American, I know I hate it when singers do that to our national anthem (Canada). There's a reason it's called a "National" anthem, it doesn't need to be remixed or redone.
I'm also not a big Black Eyed Peas fan (I personally find Will.i.am's name alone infuriating) I almost peed my pants when I saw Slash and Fergie perform a duet to the tune of 'Sweet Child of Mine". How Slash, BEP and Usher managed to get on the same stage, I have no idea, but it happened, and millions were disappointed I'm sure.
Something tells me we'll be hearing Axl's opinion on the performance in the near future.
Oi I mentioned how horrible the BEPs sounded last night and my wife was like nah its not that bad but I'm glad to have the rest of the public (or 95%) of you who watched the game agree with me. The mic's sucked! Had the BEPs been a bit louder themselves it might not have seemed so bad.
ReplyDeleteJust my 2c
The second video isn't there anymore. Was looking forward to seeing it, though I likely would have been disappointed as well.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, in regards to the first: She dun goofed.
Fixed the link.
ReplyDeleteDisgraceful performance, was so bad.
ReplyDeleteShocking
ReplyDeletei completely agree, they were both terrible!
ReplyDeleteOH god this was terrible.
ReplyDeletecheya
ReplyDeletethat was so cool seeing him rise out of the stage like that. nice blog.
ReplyDeletehttp://underratedfilms.blogspot.com/
i used to think slash was alright, but i guess truely he was never very talented, good looking, or cool.
ReplyDeletelord, i cant believe somebody failed again...
ReplyDeleteI was mad that I lost twenty bucks. Damn cheeseheads
ReplyDeleteAs a German, i didnt recodgnized the mistake^^
ReplyDeleteSeriously pop sensations ruin songs by over doing it. Less whoring over the mic its supposed to be about our independence not your singing "talent"
ReplyDeleteSlash has sunk lower than ever before.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if I'd look that stupid if somebody took a freeze frame of my face while I was singing?
ReplyDelete@Admin - As an Englishman I didn't watch the Superbowl.
Ok the National Anthem meh whatever that I was able to deal with.... The Fergie/Slash performance... Holy fucking shit that was godawful.. Fregie is really one of the worst singers ive ever heard..
ReplyDeleteThe only good part of that was Slash.
ReplyDeleteThat was good loved Slash's part.
ReplyDeleteI was not surprised to see the national anthem messed up, it happens so often nowadays.
ReplyDeleteIt was soooo horrible. . .
ReplyDeleteI was ready for another guns&roses reunion...but furgie ruined it.
ReplyDeleteTerrible performance, black eyed peas are being removed from my ipod. Talked about this laughable show on my own blog too.
ReplyDeleteshaken my head at christina shes offically on my shit list for messing up the anthem
ReplyDeletei miss the super bowls when they showed boobs, aka justin timberakes hahah
ReplyDeleteNot so sorry I missed it then
ReplyDeletei know it was awful!
ReplyDeletethis reminds me of the roman gladators celebration, violence, cheep and funny commercials, beer, the force of the state (jets).
ReplyDelete2000 years, and nothig changed
Many games like this have come and gone before. I remember once, at the Colloseum, the singer botched Romes anthem bad enough, we stoned her.
ReplyDeletelol fail...
ReplyDeleteYeah... the halftime show was almost as big of a fuck up as the national anthem. BEP should never have tried to cover Guns 'n' Roses.
ReplyDeleteAs for the score, I'm so glad the Packers won. As a long term Bengals fan I couldnt stand to see Shittsburgh win another title!
did you ever see that banned folgers coffee commerical? they got some not letting that on.
ReplyDeleteSuch a terrible halftime show. I was ashamed watching it.
ReplyDeleteoh my god :D
ReplyDeleteIm BACK >>HERE<< and >>HERE<<
Oh, the fail! :D
ReplyDeleteAlso, Slash is my gf's favourite guitarist. I can't wait for her to see this. :D
Following and supporting! :)
OH YEAAAA! Slash \m/
ReplyDeleteAfterward, I bet they were like, "fuck yeah! nailed it!"
ReplyDeleteOh my...
ReplyDeletei really liked the people covered in lights, i thought that was the best part. it was probably very hard to co-ordinate so many people.
